Frequently asked Jeep system questions:

Q: How hard are the systems to install?

A: We always suggest the installation should be made by those that are familiar with the mechanics of the vehicle and have a working knowledge of the exhaust system. You will need to use jack stands, (never use a bumper jack). The only tools required will be basic hand tools, a sawzall will be handy as well. It will take the average person about 2 hours to install the system. Most muffler shops will install the system in about 1-1/2 hours. It really works the best on a four post lift, that way when the system goes on it is as the vehicle will be sitting when it is on the ground. Drive the vehicle for a few days and re-inspect the positioning and check the clamps.

Q: Will the system affect my factory or aftermarket warranty?

A: All after market warranties exclude the exhaust system, the factory warranty only covers the factory installed components. Our system will not affect the operation of any of the factory emissions and the o2 sensors are in the same location as factory.

Q: What kind of results will I realize with the 3" exhaust system?

A: You will notice an immediate increase in power and torque, usually about 15 - 18 hp. You will also notice the heat gauge shows the engine is running cooler, especially on the ZJ models. Our first installations on the ZJ's and WJ's experienced a 2 mpg increase in gas mileage. You may have a hard time with the mileage as even we had a tendency to lean on the pedal more (for test purposes only of course).

Q: How loud is the exhaust?

A: The Flo-Pro FP-746 22" all welded muffler is slightly louder than stock, it sounds just a little louder than a Dodge or Jeep 5.9L engine. We like it because it outflows the FlowMaster 70 series muffler and is quieter and weighs only 9 ounces less yet it is the same length as the FlowMaster. The FP-746 seems to make the shifting smoother and of course just like the FlowMaster produce more power. Our experience after testing some 35 plus mufflers was that the 70 series FlowMaster was too loud on the WJ 4.7 with our entire system on it, the Flo -Pro seems to do a better job reducing resonance. I know my wife no longer complains (about the muffler sound anyway). We also have Magnaflow mufflers and several others.

Q: Why won't my muffler shop remove my old catalytic converter?

A: Owning a Chrysler product basically makes this a moot issue, your stock cat is probably bad already. This is the main reason we designed these systems. Federal law makes it illegal for a muffler shop to remove a working catalytic converter, as well it is illegal to resell or install a used catalytic converter. Our system is designed to completely replace the factory system on the ZJ models and replace the lower Y section back on the WJ system.

Q: Why should I not just install a cat and back system?

A: If you only replace the catalytic converter, muffler and tail pipe you have not replaced the single biggest restriction of the system. The down pipe and heat shield have discolored because the exhaust is restricted and running extremely hot. The dark blue color was caused by the extreme heat. Heat is the single biggest cause of damage to your engine. The entire exhaust system on the 1993-1998 ZJ were not mandrel bent either. Our entire system costs less than the typical cat, muffler and tail pipe kit and you can install it yourself. If you have to take it to a muffler shop to get it welded on and have the Y pipe modified it will cost around $150.00, if you can even find someone to do it.

Q: How long does it take to get my order?

A: We use FedEx Ground or Home delivery. That usually takes 3-4 days, of course if the weather is bad between you and our shop it may be longer. If you are in the Military at an APO address we use the US Postal Service.

Q: What if I have a problem?

A: First check our website, we have installation instructions posted. Print them out, and read through them. If you still have a question just call us, we can walk you through the install. We have done them many times.

You can also email any question to: sales@warpspeedperformance.com or fax or call toll free 866-801-9338. If we are out leave a message and your number and we will call you back with an answer.

Frequently asked Nissan Maxima system questions:

Q: What is the difference between MIG and TIG welding?

A: It is the welding process. Simply stated MIG welding uses a gun with a shielding gas with wire on the spool which acts as the electrode, the base metal is grounded and an arc is created when the wire comes in contact and the wire melts or welds to the base metal. TIG welding is more labor intensive, the wire is in stick form and a tungsten electrode heats the base metal and filler rod and welds or melts the metals together. TIG welding is more labor intensive so it costs more. The tensile strength is basically the same.

Q: How long will my aluminized steel or stainless steel system last?

A: The stock system on your Maxima is aluminized steel, they usually last from 10-12 years. We have asked several of the pipe manufacturers who have told us the aluminized will last for 8-10 years easily. The stainless will easily last the life of your car. It is more resistant to the exhaust contaminants and chemicals. It also depends on how you drive your car. If you drive only short distances and shut it off it will tend to collect condensation as the system will not dry out. It will not last as long as the driver who drives for several hours at a time and allows the system to dry out.

Q: Will my new Y-pipe be quiet or loud?

A: The loudness of your system depends upon several things: If you have an after market intake or exhaust such as a DTM style muffler it will be louder than stock. On most applications you will hear an increase in sound, that is mainly because the stock Y pipe weighs 30+ pounds, some are wrapped with insulation so they tend to be quieter than a 14 pound after market Y pipe like ours. We use a high quality lined flex section that eliminates the bees in a can sound. The Y pipe on our personal Maxima is no louder than stock.

Q:  Can I replace my new y-pipe, cat and b-pipe myself?

A: If you have some basic mechanical knowledge, a basic tool set and a jack and jack stands you can install the system. It is much easier to do on a lift, even easier to take to a muffler shop. If you have doubts take it to a professional, try to stay away from the chain exhaust shops. Look for a custom shop who will take the time to show you your system and the condition of the other components.

Q: Does this pipe have the "bees in a can sound"?

A: No, we have used the new lined flex sections for almost 4 years and we have no reports of any hiss or bees in a can sound.

Q: How long does it take to get my order?

A: We usually have plenty of each model pipe or system on hand, if we do not have your model in stock we will let you know when the next will be available. We use FedEx Ground or Home delivery and it usually takes 3-4 business days, of course if the weather is bad between you and our shop it may be longer.

Q: What if I have a problem?

A: First check our website, we have installation instructions posted. Print them out, read through them. If you still have a question just call or email us, we can walk you through the install. We have done them many times and if you are local we can even install the system or build a custom one on your car.
