Exhaust system Installation instructions: CHECK YOUR OWNERS MANUAL FOR TORQUE SPECS.

**Some of our mandrel bent components have a bio-degradable lubricant applied during the bending process. If you notice a wet film inside the tubing you will avoid the smoke during the initial start-up if you rinse the pipe or pipes out with warm water.

WarpSpeed Performance Nissan Maxima VG/VE or VQ Y pipe kit installation:

NOTE***ALL Y PIPES INCLUDE GASKETS AND BOLTS AND A NEW HANGER. THE HANGER MUST BE USED OR YOU WILL BREAK THE FLEX SECTION, FLEX SECTIONS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO SUPPORT WEIGHT.

USE PB BLASTER OR A GOOD RUST SOLVENT LUBRICATOR TO LOOSEN STUCK OR RUSTY BOLTS AND STUDS, HEAT MAY BE REQUIRED. IF YOU BREAK OFF A STUD ONE BEST WAY TO REMOVE IS WELD NUT OVER STUD AND THEN REMOVE.

WARNING* You should always wear eye protection

"Should you decide to do the installation at home, be warned that car bumper jacks are intended for emergency use only. The use of frame contact jack stands in conjunction with a floor jack as main support is highly recommended to minimize accidental dropping of a vehicle during the installation process."

Make sure the battery is disconnected to allow it to re-program the computer after the install is complete.

Make sure the engine is cool to the touch before the install is started.

1. Spray nuts on exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and o2 sensor nuts with WD40 or like product giving it time to penetrate.

2. Loosen the 6-nuts carefully on exhaust manifold flanges with a 14mm socket, retain for re-use, (there may be a stone shield attached to the stock Y pipe and you may need to remove them to get at the flange nuts .)

VQ models have a bracket which attaches to the transmission which will require the removal of 2 bolts, 12mm.

3. VQ models: Remove bolts at rear of Y pipe and retain for reuse, a 14mm wrench or socket will be required.
VG/VE models: Remove bolts and nuts and use the new provided bolts and nuts.

4. Carefully slide out stock Y pipe and very carefully remove the o2 sensor. You should not have to actually unfasten plastic connector on o2 sensor wire, you do need to be careful and protect the sensor from damage.

VQ models will require that you gently pull on the o2 sensor wire to gain some additional slack in the wire before you remove the 2 sensors.

5. Position new Y pipe onto manifold bolts to ensure fit and clearances and remove from vehicle.

6. Install the o2 sensor or sensors (remember you have to pre-wind the wires as they were when you removed the sensor) (there will already be anti seize on the o2 sensor inserts when you get your Y pipe) then install the exhaust manifold flange gaskets into the flanges (2 required).

7. Position the Y pipe on the exhaust manifold studs and tighten the nuts loosely, it may slip on easier if the rear flange goes on first, some cars a a little different.

8. Apply the exhaust gasket and bolts through the rear flange and catalytic converter flange and tighten loosely.

9. Remove old hanger between Y pipe and cat, apply new hanger. Check position of Y pipe and ensure there is no contact with frame or stabilizer bar, check to make sure no part of the tunnel heat shield is touching.

WE INCLUDE A NEW HANGER FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER/Y PIPE

10. Tighten the nuts on the Y pipe and bolts in the catalytic converter flanges.

11. Reconnect battery.

Hardware kit for VG/VE or VQ Y pipe:

CA Spec. 1999.5 to 2001 Y Pipe Kit Installation:

1. Spray nuts on exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and o2 sensor nuts with PB BLASTER (SOLD AT WAL-MART) or like product giving it time to penetrate.

2. Remove the small aluminum heat shield on the front pre-cat with a 10mm socket or wrench. Remove the front and rear o2 sensors and push them out the way so as not to damage them.

3. We slightly reduced the legth of front tube so that the front pre-cat will no loger need to be loosened. If you choose to anyway, you will need a 10mm socket, a 6 point works best and a long extension. It helps if the engine is slightly warm. Loosen the nuts which hold it in place, they are usually pretty tight. Then remove the 3 bolts at the bottom of the front pre-cat with a 14mm socket.

4. Loosen the 3 nuts on the rear down pipe flange, a 14mm socket with a swivel and long extension works best. Remove the converter hanger bolt from the rubber grommet, it will require a 12mm socket. Then remove the nuts on the inlet end of the converter (14mm socket). Lastly remove the 2 bolts from the bracket which attaches the Y pipe to the transmission.(12mm socket)

5. Very carefully pull out the outlet end of the Y pipe off the converter studs and start to pull down on the rest of the rear of the Y pipe. If the front pre-cat is not loose enough you will not have enough slack to get it off.

6. Apply the crush gaskets to the new Y pipe and lift it in place, it usually works best to apply one of the rear down pipe nuts to hold everything in place until you have it all situated. Install the new bolts into the bottom holes of the front pre-cat and slightly tighten the nuts. Once you have it positioned you can start re-tightening the front pre-cat nuts. This tightening will lift the pipe into position better and you will then be able to tighten the rear exhaust flange nuts. Insert the provided bushing inside the rubber grommet which holds the converter bracket and then slip the Y pipe outlet flange over the studs and apply nuts. Apply the new bolt and nut through the bushing on the converter hanger (rubber grommet) and tighten loosely.

7. Re-install the o2 sensors (remember you have to pre-wind the wires as they were when you removed the sensor) (there will be anti seize on the o2 sensor inserts when you get your Y pipe).

8. Tighten all nuts, put all of your parts removed in the WSP box for storage.

Hardware kit for 1999.5-2001 CA emissions:

2 crush gaskets, 1 small and 1 large

1 flat fiber gasket

3 bolts, nuts and washers (for bottom of front pre-cat)

2002 to 2003 Y Pipe Kit Installation Instructions:

1. Spray nuts on exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and o2 sensor nuts with WD40 or like product giving it time to penetrate.

2. Remove the small aluminum heat shield on the front pre-cat with a 10mm socket or wrench. Remove the front and rear o2 sensors and push them out the way so as not to damage them. Then remove the 3 bolts at the bottom of the front pre-cat with a 14mm socket.

3. Loosen the 3 nuts on the rear down pipe flange, a 14mm socket with an extension works best. Remove the converter hanger bolt from the rubber grommet, it will require a 12mm socket. Then remove the nuts on the inlet end of the converter (14mm socket). Lastly remove the 2 bolts from the bracket which attaches the Y pipe to the transmission (use a 12mm socket).

4. Very carefully pull out the outlet end of the Y pipe off the converter studs and start to pull down on the rest of the rear of the Y pipe. It will basically slide off the studs so hang onto it to keep it from hitting the ground. It may hang up on the aluminum heat shield a little but it can be wiggled off.

5. Apply the crush gaskets to the new Y pipe and lift it in place, it usually works best to apply one of the rear down pipe nuts to hold everything in place until you have it all situated, when you slip the rear flange on you will need to use the nut on the passenger side of flange as it is a real tight fit. Install the new bolts into the bottom holes of the front pre-cat and slightly tighten the nuts. Once you have it positioned you can start tightening them.

6. Re-install the removed o2 sensor (remember you have to pre-wind the wires as they were when you removed the sensor) (there will be anti seize on the o2 sensor insert when you get your Y pipe).

7. Tighten all nuts, put all of your parts removed in the WSP box for storage.

Hardware kit for 2002 to 2003 Y Pipe:
